
One constructive side to Michael Douglas's battle to beat the throat most cancers first diagnosed in August: the already tight-knit Douglas clan, together with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, grew even closer.
"One factor that all cancer survivors speak about is a brand new depth of feeling that you've got for family members," Douglas, 66, mentioned Thursday night during his first public look since learning he's most cancers-free. At instances his voice sounding a bit scratchy, the Wall Road Oscar winner obtained the Palm Springs Film Competition's Icon Award, with Zeta-Jones and his brother, Joel Douglas, also there for him.
Underscoring his point about family members, Douglas checked out his spouse and said, "It is made us even nearer, and positively there is a depth of emotion and an appreciation of your daily life that you did not have before."

Although Douglas has been advised the tumor is gone, he nonetheless knows to exercise warning - and go every month for the next 12 months to be checked by his doctors.
